Providing information on the Shankill and making it accessible to as many people as possible, is a key aim of the Shankill Area Social History (S.A.S.H) group. From an early stage we acknowledged the need to archive and share photos & documents related to the Shankill community. SASH archive group have been very busy liaising with our own members, local churches, community groups and individuals and have already thousands of photos capturing the social, cultural and family history of the Shankill and its people.
As a group we have embraced social media as way to make these photos accessible to a world wide audience. Within the last month SASH have launched a new SASH group Facebook page to build on our existing Facebook profile, website, twitter, YouTube, and Flickr sites. The new Facebook page has focused on a large collection donated by Mark Ramsey a photographer with the Shankill People community newspaper of the mid 1990s and are receiving hundreds of comments from locals the site has already had 1200 like in a very short time and is growing daily. Please take time to browse all sour site as there is a huge amount of voluntary time given by SASH members to bring these golden memories to the Shankill community and those across the globe who have an interest in our proud history and culture.
